Facial Rejuvenation Procedures: The Facelift, Necklift, and Brow Lift
Aging is never fun, especially when it begins to affect your appearance, self-esteem, and your overall confidence. At Burlington Plastic Surgery, we want you to look and feel your best.If anti-aging remedies and serums are not giving you the youthful boost you were hoping for, we can help design an individualized treatment plan that will. Depending on your personal aesthetic goals and how aging has affected your appearance, you may be a good candidate for the facelift, necklift, brow lift, eyelid lift or any combination of these procedures. You will also be assessed to see if you are a good candidate for less invasive procedures that combat wrinkles and skin laxity such as Morpheus8, FaceTite and AccuTite.
_________
The Facelift
The facelift (also known as a rhytidectomy) helps tighten underlying muscles, lift soft tissues, redistribute fat, and remove excess skin. The goal is to meaningfully reduce the common signs of aging such as skin laxity, lines, and wrinkles to give your face a more vibrant, youthful look.A key benefit of this procedure is that it can preserve the integrity of your appearance, delivering natural-looking results without making you look like an entirely different person.
As each person is different, a facelift is customized to the specific needs of the patient, and different procedures can be added to a facelift to target multiple concerns during one single procedure.
Am I a Candidate?
The best candidates for any procedure are non-smokers in overall good health. Most facelift patients are men and women between 40 and 70, but the procedure can be performed on patients who are younger or older. While this procedure will not stop the aging process, it will help make you look younger, enhancing your self-confidence. It will improve some of the most advanced and visible signs of aging that affect the middle and lower half of the face to restore a youthful glow to your appearance. The best way to determine if you’re a good candidate is to speak with our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Jessica Shih.
The Necklift
Skin laxity, volume loss, and the natural aging process affect the appearance of the skin on the neck which can lead to sagging and drooping skin as well as horizontal bands, lines, and wrinkles. The necklift tightens loose skin and underlying muscle around the neck and jawline, producing a natural, youthful look. Many patients choose to combine a necklift to their facelift procedure to tighten loose skin and underlying muscle under the neck and jawline.
As you age, jowls may form along the lower half of the face, the skin on the neck becomes lax, and the neck can begin to be defined by irregular contours. You may begin to see muscle banding as well, but this procedure is the perfect way to improve the jawline and the neck and restore a youthful appearance.
Am I a Candidate?
If the lower half of your face and your neck have begun to exhibit the signs of aging, adding a necklift to your facelift procedure can give you the most comprehensive results. However, this procedure can also be performed as a standalone procedure if you simply want to improve the appearance of your neck and jawline. There is also a less invasive option of rejuvenating moderate signs of aging in the neck with Facetite. It’s important to note that this procedure is not designed to completely change your appearance. It is designed to restore a youthful-looking neck and ward off the future signs of aging as long as possible.
The Brow Lift
Since a facelift does not address the signs of aging on the upper half of the face, many patients choose to add a brow lift to the procedure to address the entire face and achieve the best results. Genetics, aging, and lifestyle factors can cause skin laxity, lines, wrinkles, and a drooping brow.Sagging skin along the brow line can make you look older and make your brows look and feel heavy. The brow lift is designed to lift the brow into a higher position and pull the forehead tighter to relax the brow and restore youth to the face. A full facial consultation will allow your treatment to be targeted to your unique needs, whether that includes face, neck, brow and/or eyelids.
What It Treats
A brow lift can also address and correct hooded eyes caused by drooping skin on the brow and help lift the eyebrows to make them look more youthful. It can also improve the appearance of wrinkles that form between the eyebrows, known as frown lines, as well as lines and wrinkles that may form when the brow pushes down on the bridge of the nose.Am I a Candidate?
If you are finding that you are constantly raising your eyebrows, have hooded eyelids and other wrinkles, you may be a good candidate for a brow lift and/or eyelid lift. Additionally, if you are interested in scheduling a facelift but also want to address the upper half of your face, adding a brow lift to your procedure can help you achieve all your cosmetic goals during one procedure._________
Customizing Your Procedure
The first step in this process is scheduling an initial consultation at our office. You will sit down and meet with the plastic surgeon to discuss your personal aesthetic goals and learn more about the different procedures that we offer. During the consultation process, the plastic surgeon, Dr. Jessica Shih, will evaluate your problem areas inperson to determine which procedure or combination of procedures can help you reach your ideal aestheticShe will ask you some questions about your medical history and confirm that you are a good candidate for one of these procedures. She will then design your treatment plan and move forward with the process.
Your Expectations Matter
Qualifying candidates for any of these procedures must have realistic expectations about their results. These procedures are not designed to make you look like an entirely different person but rather restore a more youthful-looking appearance These procedures will not stop the aging process, but they’ will help you fight it, and you will be able to enjoy your results for a decade or longer._________
