Treatments for Skin Lesions, Lumps, Bumps, and Irregularities

Skin lesions, lumps, bumps, and skin texture irregularities form on various body parts for different reasons. Sometimes skin lesions are a sign of an underlying medical condition; other times, they are simply harmless moles or bumps in your skin. Regardless of why you want to remove your specific skin lesions, lumps, or bumps, we can help. We have methods such as minor procedures or lasers that will remove these irregularities and require very little downtime.

Our expert plastic surgeon, Dr. Jessica Shih, specializes in everything from earlobe repair to mole removal and cyst removal. She can design a treatment plan with a removal method that will eliminate your unwanted skin irregularity so you can be free of it for good. At our office, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to skincare but instead take each patient’s unique needs and goals into account to choose the right removal method that will lead to the best possible outcome.

Mole Removal

Moles form for different reasons, and some are benign while others may look more concerning. Regardless of the type of moles you want to remove or where they are located, our experts can evaluate them and review the different mole removal options with you..

If you have a mole that is causing you concern, pain, irritation, or is simply affecting your confidence in your appearance, you don’t have to live with it. There are different ways to remove moles. Our surgeon, Dr. Jessica Shih, will evaluate your mole during an in-person consultation and choose the best removal method based on the mole’s size, appearance, and location.

Post-Treatment Care

The treatment process is quick and relatively painless. Post-treatment, you will not have to worry about significant downtime but will need to follow some instructions to promote healing. You will also need to avoid sun exposure to prevent post-treatment hyperpigmentation.

Cyst or Lipoma Removal

A cyst or lipoma is a lump or bump under the skin that creates a textural irregularity on the skin’s surface. Different types of lesions such as cysts and lipomas form on various parts of the body, but our removal treatments can eliminate your cyst or lipoma once and for all. The most common cyst or lipoma removal process involves making a small incision over the lump to remove it completely. Our surgeon will evaluate the cyst or lipoma that you want to be removed and create a treatment plan to successfully and safely eliminate them.

Treating Xanthelasma and Removing Eyelid Cholesterol Deposits

Eyelid cholesterol deposits are yellow fatty deposits that form on the skin in the eye area. These typically form on the upper or lower eyelids near the inner corners of the eyes. Eyelid cholesterol deposits indicate that a patient has xanthelasmas, a condition resulting in cholesterol deposits within the eyelids.

Xanthelasma does not typically resolve on its own. Instead, the eyelid cholesterol deposits typically increase in size over time. For that reason, patients suffering from this condition need a solution that can eliminate the deposits to increase their confidence in their appearance.

The Removal Process

At our office, we offer various treatment methods that eliminate these eyelid cholesterol deposits. Some of the most common removal methods include surgical techniques or laser removal depending on the size and nature of the cholesterol deposits.

If you suffer from xanthelasma and have yellow cholesterol deposits on your eyelids that affect your confidence, we can create a treatment plan that removes them and helps improve your appearance.

Earlobe Repair

Many different conditions can affect the appearance of their earlobes and cause cosmetic concerns. Sometimes piercings can become enlarged, either intentionally or unintentionally. Patients who wore gauged earrings at some point in their lives and no longer want a gaping hole in their earlobe can benefit from earlobe repair.

Additionally, ear lobe repair can benefit those whose earlobes have been ripped or torn for various reasons or have piercings that have become larger due to injury or the aging process. Our surgeon can evaluate your cosmetic concerns during a consultation to determine the best way to repair and restore your earlobe.

The Treatment Process

During the treatment process, the surgeon typically cleans the area and uses local anesthesia to freeze the area. Then, the ripped or stretched area will be repaired and sutured together carefully with skill and precision.

After your earlobe repair procedure, you will need to keep the treatment area dry and apply healing ointment as directed. Our surgeon will provide you with instructions about how to care for the area to ensure the fastest healing and the best results.

Treatments for Acne or Acne Scarring

Do you have active acne or acne scarring that bothers you, despite trying many different skin care protocols, creams, or medications? The technology available at The MedSpa at The MedSpa at Burlington Plastic Surgery allows us to use radiofrequency energy applied through microneedles in the skin to improve active acne as well as textural irregularities from acne scars. Other types of lasers can also be effective in reducing acne or acne scarring. If acne scars are deeper or pitting, there are also additional methods that can help improve the textural irregularities such as TCA Cross Methods.

What is TCA Cross Method for Acne Scars?

TCA CROSS is the chemical reconstruction of skin scars (CROSS) using Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for the treatment of atrophic acne scars. It involves depositing small amount of high concentration TCA focally to the base of deep, ice-pick scars. This causes a local inflammatory reaction that leads to formation of new collagen fibers, decreasing the depression of scars. Optimal improvement usually requires multiple treatments over a period

Regardless of type of acne or scarring, our experts at The MedSpa at Burlington Plastic Surgery can create an individualized plan for you to help improve the appearance of your skin.
