The natural aging process can be a frustrating part of life for some people. Changes to the body’s appearance are often the first visible sign of aging. Fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin appear. Women who have given birth or experienced significant weight fluctuations may notice their abdominal skin isn’t as taut as it once was.
Skin laxity occurs due to changes in collagen production and elastin. As people reach their mid-20s, their bodies typically slow down production of these all-important substances, resulting in looser skin that’s more resistant to returning to its normal appearance.
Someone who undergoes weight-loss surgery may have sagging at the location of the procedure, such as a belly pooch or loose arm skin. Others may develop lax skin under their chin. Wherever the location, there’s no denying that loose skin results in an aged appearance, and many people want to reduce its visibility.
What Skin Tightening Procedures Are Available?
At The MedSpa at Burlington Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of non-surgical skin tightening procedures that deliver results. Our services treat the face and body. They include Forma, Forma Plus, RF Microneedling with Morpheus8, FaceTite, AccuTite, and BodyTite.
All of our procedures use radiofrequency energy and heat to encourage the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in a tighter appearance of the skin.
Skin Tightening Treatments for the Face
We offer four treatments designed especially for tightening facial skin.
Forma is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that’s especially effective for treating loose skin and wrinkles on the face. It uses radiofrequency energy to heat the underlying layers of the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
Forma is appropriate for treating several facial skin concerns, including lines on the forehead, crow’s feet, the upper and lower eyelids, and jowls.
A Forma treatment begins with us applying a cool gel to the face to ensure that the applicator glides smoothly over the skin. Then, we pass the device over each area, creating a gentle, warm sensation on the skin.
Forma appointments are quick. One skin tightening treatment lasts up to 30 minutes.
For the best results, patients usually undergo weekly sessions for six weeks. While some results are apparent following a single treatment, the outcome of the procedures is most evident in three to four months.
Morpheus8 is an advanced treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy for impressive results. Patients who choose Morpheus8 experience a wide range of benefits on top of skin tightening, including diminished hyperpigmentation and age spots, smoother skin, fewer lines and wrinkles, and diminished acne scars.
During a Morpheus8 treatment, we use a device containing tiny needles to gently puncture the skin, resulting in minuscule injuries that stimulate collagen production. Morpheus8 also generates radiofrequency energy and heat, encouraging the skin to repair and smooth out imperfections.
The number of treatment sessions varies, depending on skin concerns. Some patients may require a single treatment to achieve their objectives, while others may require two or three sessions.
FaceTite is a non-surgical procedure that doesn’t require significant downtime. It offers results similar to a mini-facelift. FaceTite requires tiny incisions, but the outcome of the treatment is often dramatic.
FaceTite is most helpful in treating sagging skin in the jawline. Individuals with jowls or excess fat that leads to a double chin often benefit the most from FaceTite. Results from a FaceTite procedure usually last for years, reducing the need for ongoing maintenance treatments.
FaceTite is also effective for reducing the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. Patients with mild to moderate skin sagging see the most benefits from FaceTite.
AccuTite is similar to FaceTite but is most effective for treating sagging skin and wrinkles in the lower eyelids and nasolabial folds. Patients may also use AccuTite for wrinkles on their hands or for rejuvenation of the labia.
AccuTite works by combining radiofrequency with heated lipolysis. The heat from the device encourages the dissipation of fat cells, which melt and eliminate naturally through the body’s lymphatic system.
Patients only need a single session of minimally invasive AccuTite skin tightening surgery to see results. Results are visible within two to three months.
Skin Tightening Procedures for the Body
Alongside facial skin tightening treatments, we offer two procedures for the body.
Forma Plus is a gentle skin tightening procedure for treating larger body areas. Forma Plus employs radiofrequency energy to heat the underlying tissue, stimulating collagen production and encouraging the skin to constrict.
Forma Plus is appropriate for almost all body areas, including the stomach, buttocks, thighs, and upper arms. Patients with cellulite often see a reduction in its visibility.
Usually, patients must undergo six weekly treatments with Forma Plus to see significant changes in their appearance. Results become evident within three months of their initial treatment.
BodyTite combines radiofrequency energy and lipolysis to eliminate unwanted fat pockets and tighten the skin. Like AccuTite and FaceTite, BodyTite requires tiny incisions. The incisions allow us to insert the device into the underlying tissue, gently heating it and encouraging collagen production.
BodyTite is effective for various body areas, including the abdomen, waist, buttocks, thighs, and arms. Patients who have recently had liposuction or CoolSculpting treatments often choose the minimally invasive BodyTite skin tightening surgery.
Results from BodyTite are long-lasting. You won’t need repeated sessions with BodyTite.
