Rosacea
Rosacea is a skin condition that affects the central face and can be treated despite being chronic. It typically starts after age 30 as redness on specific areas of the face, which may disappear and then reappear. The coloration tends to become more prominent over time, with visible blood vessels becoming noticeable too. If left untreated, inflammatory bumps develop along with pimples, which may cause swelling in severe cases, particularly for men where excess tissue leads to the appearance of a swollen nose. Additionally, up to half of patients experience eye irritation or appear watery/bloodshot eyes too.
Signs and Symptoms of Rosacea
Rosacea leads to facial blushing or flushing and noticeable blood vessels. These indications may intensify for weeks or even months before subsiding temporarily. Rosacea can be wrongly identified as acne, other skin conditions, or inherent redness.
