The Benefits of RF Microneedling With Morpheus8

Apr 12, 2023

Skin laxity and uneven skin tone can seem impossible to resolve without turning to surgical procedures, but one option that offers reliable results is RF microneedling. At The MedSpa at Burlington Plastic Surgery in Burlington,ON, we offer RF microneedling with Morpheus8, one of the latest technological advancements in the microneedling world.

What Is RF Microneedling?

RF microneedling is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses tiny needles and radiofrequency energy to boost collagen production and help with skin concerns.

One of the most important substances for your skin is collagen. Collagen is a protein your body naturally produces that performs many functions, including keeping your skin hydrated and firm. As you get closer to your 30s, however, the production of collagen starts decreasing, leading to skin that is more prone to laxity and developing wrinkles.

RF microneedling uses a controlled method of creating injuries, jump-starting your skin’s healing process and the production of new collagen, elastin, and even capillaries. The needles then release radiofrequency energy into the microchannels, causing deeper damage and enhancing the entire microneedling procedure.

At our medspa, we provide RF microneedling with Morpheus8. This is a new technique that is more efficient than others. This type of RF microneedling offers radiofrequency energy to reach tissues up to 4mm in depth, prompting the thickening and tightening of those tissues.

RF microneedling can help with:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Stretch marks
  • Enlarged pores
  • Acne scars
  • Sagging skin
  • Cellulite
  • Hyperpigmentation

It is particularly helpful for the treatment of hyperpigmentation because it encourages better cellular turnover.

The best candidates for RF microneedling are people in good health, who have realistic expectations, and who have mild to moderate skin concerns. This treatment option is appropriate for most skin tones, unlike most laser procedures.

Those who should not get this procedure are people who have recently used Accutane, have a skin infection, have a skin disease like psoriasis, are receiving cancer treatments, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scars, or have bleeding disorders.

What Benefits Does RF Microneedling with Morpheus8 Offer?

One of the most important benefits that this type of microneedling offers is that it stimulates collagen production in deep skin layers. This allows new, healthier tissue to form. It is helpful for people with skin blemishes as well as for those who have lax skin they want to tighten.

This procedure is minimally invasive. You don’t have to stress over a long recovery or having to take time off work. Most people can get back to their regular activities within a couple of days of their procedure.

RF microneedling offers natural results. Because it relies on your body’s wound-healing and regenerative mechanisms, it allows you to get healthier skin in a gradual manner.

Preparing for the Morpheus8 RF Microneedling Procedure

The process begins with a consultation. During this consultation, you will be able to ask us anything you want to know about the procedure. We will also get your full medical history and a list of any medications or supplements you take. It is especially important that you tell us if you have been on Accutane.

If you have had cosmetic procedures in the past, we welcome you to tell us about them.

If we think that you can benefit from the RF microneedling procedure, we will ask that you prepare for the procedure by avoiding certain medications and supplements, including:

  • Ibuprofen
  • Aspirin
  • Fish oil
  • St. John’s Wort
  • Vitamin E

We also ask that you avoid exposure to the sun since it can make your skin more sensitive. Don’t use exfoliants or retinoids on the treatment areas, and avoid procedures like facials and chemical peels. If you need to shave, make sure to do so the day before your appointment.

The RF Microneedling Procedure

Come to your appointment without makeup and any creams or lotions on your skin. We will clean the treatment areas and then apply a numbing cream.

When we begin the procedure, the applicator will make tiny wounds while releasing RF energy at the same time to stimulate collagen growth.

The procedure can take between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on how many areas we treat and how large the areas are. We will then apply a growth solution to the areas to stimulate cellular turnover.

Aftercare

Most people can return to their regular activities on the same day or the day after the RF microneedling procedure. You should wait 24 hours to wear makeup.

We also recommend you avoid sun exposure for a few days, as well as tanning beds. You want to avoid using anything that can irritate your skin, including certain types of skin care products, strenuous activities that can cause sweating, and hot tubs or saunas. After three to five days, you can return to all of your regular activities.

We recommend a few treatment sessions to help you achieve your goals. Remember that the process is gradual, and you may not start seeing results until four to six weeks have passed. The results can last anywhere from 12 to 18 months. During your consultation, we will let you know how many sessions you may need.
